Gimli, son of Glóin, is a character from The Lord of the Rings and a well-respected dwarf warrior in Middle-earth. He was a member of the Fellowship of the Ring and was the only one of the dwarves to readily fight alongside elves in the war against Sauron. And this in turn has given rise to the belief that there are no Dwarf women and that Dwarves just spring out of holes in the ground - which is, of course, ridiculous.
I will be dead before I see the ring in the hands of an elf!
