Shave your armpits, don’t shave them, wear flats one day, heels the next. These things are so irrelevant and surface to what it is all really about, and I wish people wouldn’t get caught up in that.

I like books that aren't just lovely but that have memories in themselves. Just like playing a song, picking up a book again that has memories can take you back to another place or another time.

When at 15, my girlfriends started dropping out of their beloved sports teams, because they didn’t want to appear muscle-y, when at 18, my male friends were unable to express their feelings, I decided that I was a feminist.

I threw my 20th birthday party at Brown, and I didn't even have to say to anyone not to put pictures on Facebook. Not a single picture went up. That was when I knew I’d found a solid group of friends, and I felt like I belonged.

Why does everyone make such a big fuss about turning 30? Cut to 29, I'm so stressed and anxious. And I realize, it's because suddenly there's this bloody influx of subliminal messaging around, "if you do not build a home", "if you do not have a husband", "if you do not have a baby". And you are turning 30 and you're not in some secure, stable place in your career or you're still figuring things out, there's this incredible amount of anxiety.

My idea of sexy is that less is more. The less you reveal the more people can wonder.

I find the whole concept of being "sexy" embarrassing and confusing. If I do an interview with photographs, people desperately want to change me - dye my hair blonder, pluck my eyebrows, give me a fringe. Then there's the choice of clothes. I knew everyone wants a picture of me in a mini-skirt. But that's not me. I feel uncomfortable. I'd never go out in a mini-skirt. It's nothing to do with protecting the Hermione image. I wouldn't do that. Personally, I don't actually think it's even that sexy. What's sexy about saying "I'm here with my boobs out and a short skirt, have a look at everything I've got"? My idea of sexy is that less is more. The less you reveal, the more people can wonder.
