I'm truly saddened by the death of Her Majesty, The Queen. What an outpouring of love and respect we saw for the Platinum Jubilee for her life of service. How devastated we all feel today shows what she has meant to people in this country and around the world.

I met Queen Elizebeth in 2009. As she approached me, all I could think of was WTH?? I'm an American kid from the projects and I'm in the company of the Queen of England. I was in awe. Rest In Peace. God Save the King.

Queen Elizabeth II helped mending the wounds caused by World War II. Britain offered Germany the hand of conciliation. And the hand of conciliation was the hand of the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth II was the rock on which modern Britain was built. Our country has grown and flourished under her reign. In the difficult days ahead, we will come together with our friends across the United Kingdom to celebrate her extraordinary lifetime of service.

Most British people have never known another monarch, so she's been a thread winding through all our lives. She did her duty by the country right up until her dying hours, and became an enduring, positive symbol of Britain all over the world. She's earned her rest.

I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country.

We mourn the death of Queen Elizabeth II. She was a role model and inspiration for millions, also here in Germany. Her commitment to German-British reconciliation after the horrors of World War II will remain unforgotten. She will be missed.

I hope in the years to come everyone will be able to take pride in how they responded to this challenge.
